Rules of Completing Sentences with Exercises

Rule No -01: 

    Too ----------------- to

1. Subject (person) + verb+ too + adjective/ adverb + to + V1 + ext.

2. Subject (thing) + verb+ too + adjective/ adverb + for + obj + to + verb1 + ext.

3. Subject (thing) + verb+ too + adjective/ adverb +  to be + verb3 + ext.

Rule No -03:

So that/ in order that (যাতে করে; যাতে; যাহাতে)

1. Given Clause + in order that/ so that + sub + may /might/ can/ could + verb1 + ext.

Here 'can/could' expresses the certainty of action and 'may/ might' expresses the possibility of action.

As if (যেন) /as though (যেন)

Structure:

1. Simple Present + as though/ as if + simple past.
2. Present Perfect + as though/ as if  + simple past.
3. Past Indefinite + as though/ as if  + past perfect. 
4. Simple Present/ Present Perfect/ Past Indefinite + sub + (be) were + other words.

Rule No- 06:  Lest (পাছে, পাছে ঘটে তাই) (lest+ affirmative clause)

Structure:

2. Assertive Sentence + lest + sub + should/ might + verb1 + ext.

Sentence + until/unless/if not/except if + affirmative sentence

Sentence+ till+ negative sentence/ affirmative sentence/ word/ phrase

For Example:

a. You cannot pass unless you study seriously. 

b. Wait there till I come back. 

c. Unless he works hard, you cannot earn much money.

d. Work hard until you become successful.

Had/were (যদি ) Provided/ provided that/ providing that (এই শর্তে যে ) If (যদি ) /unless  (যদি )/ in case (যদি )

All these words follow the structures of conditional sentences.

For Example:

He will come provided that he is strong enough.
Rashed will call me provided he has enough time.
We will go to market provided that we get the money.
He will help the poor in case he has the capability.
